  Leigh Hobba

Leigh Hobba is an artist and lecturer presently in charge of the Video facility at the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart . He graduated from the University of Adelaide Conservatorium of Music in 1975, with specialist studies in performance, electronic music and education.

For more than 20 years he has been engaged in interdisciplinary practice across the fields of music and visual arts practice, and in 1993, he was recognized for his achievements with the award of a fellowship from the Australia Council's, Visual Arts and Crafts Board . The support of this fellowship enabled him to establish an independent production facility. The creative output of this facility has been concerned with the "re-visioning" of visual and performing arts product for screen based presentation, including single channel, broadcast and installation outcomes.

Recent work includes video production, installation and performance as a member of the Pipeline Contemporary Music Ensemble, video production for Machine for Making Sense, and video direction for The Last Supper, by Richard Vella.

Visual Arts Projects in 1996 included installations for 1996 Adelaide Festival, European Cultural City celebrations in Copenhagen, Asia Pacific Triennial, Brisbane, collaboration with dancers Wendy Morrow and Trevor Patrick and work for ABC's, Art Rage.

Leigh is presently a member of the Visual Arts and Crafts Fund of the Australia Council and a foundation Board member of the National Advisory Board of the Australian Network for Art and Technology.
