Sound Walk is based on field recordings made taken from between the
Archibald Fountain and Customs House Square in Sydney, May 2000.These
field recording had previously been made for an earlier commission
-Writing the City, Part Three: Fictional Tourism.
This was a text based soundscape created for the third and final part
of Lisa Anderson's Writing
the City series of installations. The opportunity to present a work for the acoustic commissioning concert of the Music Workshop in the newly rebuilt Sydney Conservatorium of Music seemed a perfect excuse to revisit these field recording as they were made in Macquarie St outside the Conservatorium while it was a construction site. The work explores the sounds - sometimes transformed and others simply revealed to construct an acoustic narrative. |
