Writing the City, Part Three: Fictional Tourism (mp3 audio download 2.2mb from Artspace).
This soundscape was commissioned for the third and final part of Lisa Anderson's Writing the City series of installations. Participants wrote on the pavement between the Archibald Fountain and Customs House Square on Saturday 27 May 2000. Artists, writers, architects, politicians came together to express their stories of the City.
The soundscape was created from field recordings made during a street walk between Archibald Fountain and Customs House Square. The material was then reconstructed in the studio to together with Lisa Anderson's story as read by the artist. This created a soundscape integrating two independent narratives -acoustic (electroacoustic) and linguistic.
Writing the City, Part Three, was a Biennalle of Sydney Satelite event and an initiative of the City of Sydney and Artspace.
